Will President Buhari Kill Excuses And Quit Politics?

With a heated political space and the state of Nigeria’s socio- economic situation under President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB), I have realised that turning good intentions into habits far outweighs having good intentions alone.

Clearly, that PMB is passionate about bringing sanity, integrity and adding values to the lives of Nigerians is never in doubt.

But making practical his good intentions and actualising his dreams for the greater good of all seems a delusion.

Especially with the group of devourers and political opportunists he ‘unwilling and forcefully’ signed on under his administration.

In the 2015 presidential elections that brought into office President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians voted for change from the status quo.

They voted for a change from the tradition of nepotism, corruption, poverty, unemployment and nonchalance in government and public offices.

But rather than changing the situation of Nigerians for the better, the system remains unchanged as the so-called cabals and power influencers had successfully caged our dear Mr. President.

In his 2018 New Year message, the spiritual director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, Revd. Fr. Ejike Mbaka made bitter but truthful declarations on the plight of Nigerians.

According to the fiery man of God, 2017 was one of the most horrible years in the country.

A year wicked cabals and satanic agents have wickedly snatched the goodwill and good intentions of President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In truth, satanic political agents in government have hijacked both the governance and good intentions of President Buhari for Nigerians as corrupt public officers and cynics are striving hard to derail Mr. President’s administration even till now.

Meanwhile, the Catholic priest has proffered a divine solution to Nigeria’s challenges as he prophesied,

“Heaven demands President Buhari to change all those who are holding and caging him in captivity; if he will not change them, he will be changed.”

But, is this feasible? For President Buhari to change his captors and still remain in office, hell No.

Why? Because our dear President Buhari has been gagged while his mandate has been hijacked by some faceless but powerful politicians around him.

Simply put, President Buhari has lost control of his administration to the point that he is alien to happenings within it.

If not, what excuses are there for President Muhammadu Buhari for not living up to his electoral promises in the twilight of his administration?

For instance, in 2015, President Buhari promised Nigerians that Fuel scarcity would be a thing of the past while he assured Nigerians of adequate supply of kerosene amongst others.

But today, what do we see? Long queue at fuel stations across the country as petrol was sold at the black market price of between N400 and N500 while kerosene officially goes for between N200 and N250 as against promised price of N50 per litre.

Although, on security of lives and properties and economy diversification, President Muhammadu Buhari has recorded a resounding success especially in the fight against insurgency and bringing the economy out of recession and reviving the agriculture sector through the Central Bank Anchor Borrowers’ scheme which give grant to local farmers.

However, in spite of this feat on security, herdsmen and farmers’ crisis which has claimed countless number of lives still linger while unemployment rate are assuming an alarming rate.

The health sector is nothing but a sham. It is a sector that is characterised with wrong diagnosis of patients, lack of medical equipments, under-funding and incompetent medical staff.

It is needless to remind you of how public officers and the president go on medical tour abroad while Nigerians are dying in hospitals for lack of medical facilities.

The Federal government social investment programmes which was designed for vulnerable Nigerian youth was not adequately addressing youth unemployment and poverty.

Visibly, President Muhammadu Buhari has done his best in ensuring that he bequeath a better and healthy economy to Nigerians.

But unfortunately, his best is not yielding the expected results, no thanks to the hypocrisy of treacherous politicians who take advantage of the president little understanding of the political terrain of our dear president.

Regardless, President Muhammadu Buhari is a leader with unmatched characteristics.

He is a leader who knows the way, goes the way but due to no fault of his, fails to show the way.

Pre-2015 saw a President Muhammadu Buhari that was popular among the electorates.

During this period, Nigerians saw a messiah in the coming of Mr. President as it was believed that he knows where the shoes of Nigerians pinch.

And as expected, President Buhari wholeheartedly welcomed the challenge only to be disappointed by the calibre of people he chose to work with; only to be let down by the deceitfulness and selfish nature of politicians.

Out of deceit and selfishness, politicians wrongly advised President Buhari. They misrepresented issues on the true state of the nation to him.

As a statesman, President Muhammadu Buhari has tried his shot at being a change agent the country requires but to no avail.

However, it will be highly dignifying for the president to retire from active politics at the expiration of his tenure and not seek a second term of office in the 2019 presidential election.

But this is a nullity as President Buhari has successfully clinched his party, APC presidential ticket.

But if only he could let go of his second term ambition and hands off politics, President Buhari would be highly honoured to take up the role of an advisory on national issues in his capacity as an ex-president .

Rather than being disgraced out of office as prophesied by Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka or if defeated by his opponent Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP .

Further, Mr. President must cleanse himself of all excuses to justify his non-performance or his re-election bid and quit the stage for fresh and innovative minds.

However, as the journey towards fixing our national challenges continues in 2019 elections.

I want to advocate for the inclusion of new breed politicians especially who are well informed on national and international issues to take over from old and recycled politicians that have run out of developmental and progressive ideas.
