It was a day of joy for residents of Moss Street/Abete in Otumara 11/Apapa road community as the head of the community, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye in the company of the Lagos Mainland Local Government Chairperson, Hon. Rashidat Omolola Essien, LMLG Council Vice-Chairman, Hon. Jibril Emilagba and other council top managers commissioned a borehole donated by the community head to the people of his community to ease their water needs.

In her remark at the event, Hon Rashidat Omolola Essien stated that since the inception of her administration, High Chief Kalejaiye has been supportive of the cause of her administration by spending his personal resources to aid development in his community and by extension the Local Government.

She however called on other community heads to emulate High Chief Kalejaiye and not rely on government alone as community development is the collective duties of all residents.

She added “I commend the philanthropic efforts of High Chief Kalejaiye who has been a partner in progress since the beginning of our administration. He has been supportive to the developmental agenda of the Local Government under my administration. I want to urge other Baales to emulate his kind-heartedness and philanthropic gestures to his people as he gives more to his community while many people of his class think of what they would get from the government.”

It would be recall that barely a fortnight ago, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye gave a cash gift to the mother of the first baby that was delivered at the newly built Otumara Community Health Centre.

In a brief chat with, High Chief Kalejaiye who was full of praises to the Council Chairperson said the borehole is dedicated to Almighty God, to the memory of a rare gem, his late wife, Chief Mrs. Omolara Kalejaiye and to his community.

He added that leadership position is meaningless if it has no direct positive impact on the lives of the subjects.

In a continued reaction, he said “I am motivated by the leadership acumen of Hon Chairperson of the Council, Hon Rashidat Omolola Essien whose mark of excellence has been felt in all the nooks and crannies of the Local Government since her administration began. Another is the unique style of leadership of our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has laid the path of progress for all of us and taught us that leadership is about selfless service to the people. I am happy today that the aspiration of the people of my community has come to reality. I am also thankful to God for making me an instrument to solving the water problem which has been making life hellish for many residents. And I want to advise residents to ensure that the facility is maintained adequately. And to all the Council top-shots and CDA chairmen that are here present, I thank you all for your time and patience.”

Also speaking at the commissioning is the Senior Special Adviser to the Council Chairperson, Hon. Wasiu Erinkitola who acknowledged the fact that accessibility to water supply has been a major challenge to the district.

Hon Erinkitola however commended the kind gesture of the community head saying he is worthy of emulation and a perfect example of what a good leader is.
