President Buhari Appoints New NNPC GMD, Seven Others

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Group Managing Director and seven Chief Operating Officers for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
In statement by the corporation’s spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, President Buhari appointed Mele Kyari as the new Group Managing Director to replace the outgoing GMD, Maikanti Baru.

The president also appointed seven new Chief Operating Officers.
Before his new appointment, Kyari was Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division of NNPC. He was also Nigeria’s National Representative to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC in 2018.

The newly appointed Chief Operating Officers are: Roland Onoriode Ewubare (South-South) – Chief Operating Officer, Upstream, Mustapha Yinusa Yakubu (North Central) – Chief Operating Officer Refining and Petrochemicals, Yusuf Usman (North East) – Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power, Lawrencia Nwadiabuwa Ndupu (South East), Chief Operating Officer Ventures, Umar Isa Ajiya (North West) – Chief Financial Officer, Adeyemi Adetunji (South West) – Chief Operating Officer, Downstream and Farouk Garba Said (North West) – Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Services.
The new appointment would take effect from July 8, 2019.
