Community Head of Otumara 11, Apapa road and Ojoniyun in the Lagos Mainland of Lagos state, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has tasked newly appointed Lagos state commissioners and special advisers on provision of infrastructural amenities to residents in the state while urging them to live up to expectations and cooperate with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos state All Progressives Congress, APC to achieve his dreams of a better and prosperous Lagos state.

The community head made this known in his congratulatory message to the newly appointed Lagos state cabinet members.

In his message, High Chief Kalejaiye expressed the pressing needs of his community while specifically calling on commissioner of education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo and Mr Tunji Bello, commissioner for environment and water resources to address these needs which fall under their jurisdictions.

Highlighting the challenges of his community, High Chief Kalejaiye said It is disheartening that as large as Ebute Meta (west) is, it has no Senior Secondary School, adding that miscreants and criminal elements have turned almost every nook and cranny of Ebute Meta (west) into their hide-out.

He said, “I congratulate all the newly appointed commissioners on their appointment into the Lagos cabinet. With my interactions with some of the appointees, I can boldly say that the appointments are signs pf better things to happen to Lagos state and its residents because they are thorough bred professionals and persons of integrity.

“This is a huge responsibility bestowed on them and I wish them all success in this new task. However, I want to call the attention of Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo and Mr Tunji Bello who is the State’s newly appointed Environment and water resources Commissioner to an urgent need for the establishment of Senior Secondary school in Ebute Meta (west) as the district has only Junior Secondary school in spite of its population.

Similarly, I am calling on our leader and fellow mainlander, Mr Tunji Bello to make it a point of duty the evacuation of illegal shanties and black spots in Ebute Meta (west) where the miscreants have turned into their hideouts.”

Explaining the agonies school children are subjected to journeying from Ebute Meta (west) to Senior Secondary schools in Surulere where they are transferred to for the completion of their secondary education, High Chief Kalejaiye said “The implications of the absence of Senior Secondary school is the stressful and risky journey our children had to embark upon to Surulere every morning where they are exposed to various forms of hazard.

We have heard cases of children involving in car and motorcycle accidents. There are instances of sexual assaults too. So as a mother and woman of high moral standing and unparallel love for education the new commissioner has, I am appealing to her to prioritise bequeathing blocks of senior secondary schools to Ebute Meta (west) to save our children from further exposure to dangers in the course of learning.”

While urging all the newly appointed Lagos executive members to join hands with Governor Sanwo-Olu to consolidate the next level agenda, the traditional head said the appointments given to these set of politicians and technocrats are an opportunity to stamp the feet on the sand of time.

“It is not accidental that the newly appointed technocrats and politicians were call to serve the centre of excellence. It is the grace of God and the excellence they have achieved in their respective callings therefore I want to implore them to positively impact the lives of Lagosians through the various positions they are holding now. We want a better deal in Ebute Meta (west) mainland of Lagos state.

We want an improved structure and learning environment for our children with a well equipped senior secondary school so that our children will not have to travel out of the community to acquire secondary education.

We also appeal to the government particularly the environment ministry to make our environment more habitable. Once again, I wish all the appointees a fruitful tenure of office” High Chief Kalejaiye concluded.
