Kalejaiye appeals for respite for 90-year old man as Sanwo-Olu approves free healthcare for vulnerable Lagosians

Consequent to the approval of free healthcare for 50, 000 vulnerable Lagosians, elderly and orphans, High chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his humane gesture while urging him to replicate similar gesture to a 90-year old man, Pa Saidu Alagbe whose house was demolished in 1995 and had since been rendered homeless.

Kalejaiye during a chat with newsmen on Friday appealed to the governor to beam his searchlight on the delayed justice system in the state which is partly responsible for the plight of Pa Alagbe whose demolition court case has been on trial for 25 years.

He said, “I am delighted with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his approval and release of funds for the provision of free healthcare for 50,000 orphans, the elderly and the vulnerable in the State in furtherance of the commitment of the government to expanding access to healthcare delivery, especially for the less-privileged.

On behalf of the direct beneficiaries of this humane gesture, I commend the governor for the unique feat. Similarly, I want to call the attention of Governor Sanwo-Olu to the plight of one of our senior citizens in the state, Pa Alagbe.

In his youthful years, Pa Alagbe was a carpenter. He worked hard enough to build for himself a 13-room bungalow. But this building was unjustly demolished a politician in 1995 thereby rendering the old man homeless.
Between 1995 and now, the case had been in court and Pa Alagbe rendered homeless.

I am appealing to the good conscience of the governor to intervene in this issue if not for anything but for the failing health and suffering the old man has been facing.

This is a clear case of neglect and injustice which urgently required the state government intervention. A threat to one is a threat to all. It is therefore gravely unwise to leave the old man to his fate which is why I am calling on the Lagos state government to assist the man.”
