Lagos Govt Appoints MC Oluomo As Chairman Parks Management Committee

Lagos State government has appointed Chairman, Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo as Chairman, Lagos Parks Management Committee.

MC Oluomo was appointed Chairman of the 25- man committee following his exit from the transporters’ Union over unresolved issues with the national body of the NURTW.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu also approved the appointment of retired Assistant- Inspector General (AIG), Mr. Hakeem Odumosu as Government Liaison Officer to oversee the affairs of all motor parks and garages in the state.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, made this known early Thursday morning in a statement made available to newsmen.

He said the new appointment was in fulfillment of the government’s promise to ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) were not allowed to threaten law and order.

According to him, the government took the step in exercise of its constitutional powers to ensure that no vacuum, which can disrupt the peace of the state dear is allowed to exist in the parks, adding: “This is a duty we owe all Lagosians and  visitors.”

“This is in fulfillment of the government’s promise to ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are not allowed to threaten law and order.

“The government has, therefore,  exercised its constitutional powers to ensure that no vacuum, which can disrupt the peace of our dear state,is allowed to exist in the parks. This is a duty we owe all Lagosians and  visitors,” Omotoso said.

Other members of the committee include, Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Salaam (Secretary), Comrade Olayiwola Lemboye, Alh Mustapha Adekunle, Alh Ganiyu Shittu, Alh Mukaila Runsewe, Alh Sulyman Yusuf, Alh Mufutau Mutiu, Alh Yinka Hassan, Alh Sunday Ogunleye, Alh Moshood Omojowa and Alh Ismaila Aigoro.

Others are Alh Ibrahim Yusuf. O, Alh Akeem Tijani, Mrs. Omolabake Adelakun, Comrade Kazeem Hassan, Alh Wasiu Amole, Alh Ganiyu Ayinde, Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, John Victor Owolabi, Saburi Salami, Ibrahim Onitiju and Odusanya Gbenga.

The commissioner, in his statement, said members of the committee were to report to the Ministry of Transportation, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, just as he recalled that the government on March 10 suspended NURTW operations in all parks and garages in the state, following the tension sparked by some events in the union.

“Members of the committee are to report to the Ministry of Transportation, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
