Kalejaiye Commends Chinese Govt. Contributions To Education, Cultural Exchange

High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye flanked by Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria,Mr Cui Jianchun and other members of the Chinese community at the festival in Lagos on Monday.

Traditional ruler in Otumara Community, Lagos Mainland Local Government of Lagos State, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has commended Chinese Community in the state for their contributions and investment in education through the Art and Culture.

Kalejaiye gave commendation during this year’s Chinese Full Moon festival and Independence Day celebration held in Lagos state on Monday.

The festival, an annual event is aimed at strengthening bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China as well as promoting cultural integration and exchange through the study of arts and culture of the Chinese by Nigerian students.

Speaking in his capacity as the special guest of honour, Kalejaiye disclosed that the cooperation between Nigeria and Chinese, if intensified, will be more advantageous to students from both countries.

He called for more investment in education and cultural exchange to broaden the horizon of students from both countries.

He said, “I must commend the government and people of China for their support and contribution to the growth of education in Nigeria especially in the area of cultural promotion, exchange and integration.

I want to urge the two countries to maintain this cordial relationship for the benefits students from both countries.

Having said this, I want to make a special appeal to the Chinese community especially the Chinese Ambassador, to specially consider the widows and the less privileged.

I am appealing to them to extend the benefits and supports to the grassroots in Lagos as a way of giving back to the society. Doing this will advance the quality of life of the downtrodden in our communities.

An average Nigerian needs a bailout from poverty and hunger. This is why I am appealing to the Chinese government to complement the efforts of the Lagos State Government by supporting the cause of the less privileged and the needy.”

Reacting, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Cui Jianchun assured Nigerians of an improved cooperation between Nigeria and China governments.

He said the Chinese government needs to do more in promoting the study of Art and cultural beliefs to boost business activities in Nigeria.

On his part, Chairman, Chinese Business Owners in Nigeria, Dr Eric Ni revealed that 63 Nigerian students were given N100,000 each for their outstanding performance in Art and culture.
