A group, Ejigbo Political Lens (EPL), has alleged the Commissioner for Information under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, and the incumbent Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Mr Monsuru Bello (OBE) of distributing blank membership slips of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to their foot soldiers with the intention to manipulate the primaries scheduled to hold on Saturday.
In a statement issued by its General Secretary, Ms Wonuola Kolawole, the group called on the leadership of the Lagos APC, the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu to caution Bamigbetan and OBE not to manipulate the electoral process on Saturday, adding that members of the party should be allowed to freely and fairly choose their candidate.
The group added ” They should steer off the routines meant for the APC officials and electoral officers. We are in the know that they are distributing blank party membership slips to their key players and loyalists across the six wards to manipulate the primaries on Saturday.
” We are bringing this to the notice of the APC leadership in Lagos State on the manipulative moves by Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan and his foot soldiers to collapse democratic values in Ejigbo LCDA.
” This is a grave concern to a level playing ground envisaged by all stakeholders and party members at the forthcoming primary elections.
“We as watchdogs has watched the inappropriate movement and desperation of Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan and the incumbent Chairman to stay put in power at all cost and by any means”.
The statement read further “Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan once deceived the members of the public and members of the party of the disqualification of Mr. Peter Ajayi when the exercise was ongoing and claimed he has no voter’s card. This is falsehood and against the fundamental guidelines of the screening committee.
” We are not supporting any of the aspirants. The members of APC and Ejigbo residents should select who they prefer most between the two aspirants but definitely not by crooked means.
” Finally, we want to say again that we are not in support or in favour of any of the two contestants”.
