Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the time is right for personality like former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to run for the presidency to tackle challenges confronting the country.
Lagos APC, at a media parley held at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos expressed optimism that the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would pick the party’s presidential ticket.
Spokesman of the party and convener of the media parley, Hon Seye Oladejo disclosed that with over 1800 support groups spread across various ethnic nationalities, Tinubu, enjoys a whole lot of goodwill among the people.
While expressing confidence that Tinubu would accede to the voices of the people clamouring for his presidency, he said the people will surely have their way while the opposition will have their say.
He said, “It is not in the record of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to say no to the majority clamouring for his presidency.
He has paid his dues. We are excited about Asiwaju’s aspirations. So, contrary to what some people want to pick on, that it’s his lifelong ambition, I think it is something we should all be happy about. As we speak, there are over 1800 support groups across the six geo-political in the country clamouring for Asiwaju’s candidature.
Let me assure you, Asiwaju is well grounded. Over time he has built a whole lot of goodwill based on his visit across various ethnic nationalities. Asiwaju has been the man of the people and maybe, for a very long time, he knew this day would come when he would need the various people he has been able to help.
Over time he has built a whole lot of goodwill based on his visit across various ethnic nationalities. Asiwaju has been the man of the people and maybe, for a very long time, he knew this day would come when he would need the various people he has been able to help.
And it is going to be funny as the opposition will have their say but the people will have their way.”
Speaking on the principle of zoning, Oladejo stated that the Southwest played a pivotal role in the emergence of APC presidency in 2015; therefore it is logical the party zones its presidential ticket to the region.
“Tinubu enjoys massive support in the North. The clamour for his presidency was louder in the Northern part of the country than any other zones.
And the fact that the Southwest region played a pivotal role in APC wrestling power from the PDP in 2015, it is a matter of right that the party zones the ticket to the region” he said.
Speaking on the state of health of Asiwaju Tinubu, he said, “It is absurd that those that have no authority in medical practice are querying the state of health of Asiwaju Tinubu when he should be given credit for making public his health status when he went for knee surgery in London.
Since Asiwaju Tinubu came back from London, he has been everywhere. And this points to the fact that he is healthy and fit for the task ahead.
With all the sleepless nights and stress Asiwaju had gone through before the advent of this democracy, when he becomes the President he will be the healthiest president Nigeria will ever have. Come March 29, Tinubu will be 70 years old. The opposition continues to give life to issues that have died and buried long ago and we know the reason for that.
But the fact remains, Tinubu’s wealth cannot be measured in monetary value but by goodwill he enjoys from people he had built and ready to play their part in the actualisation of his ambition.”
