Traditional Leader Calls On Parents To Counsel Their Children On Security As Schools Resume

As public schools resume in Lagos state Monday, Head of Otumara II, Apapa road, Ojo-niyun and it’s environs, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has advised parents and guardians to give adequate mentoring and counselling to their children to protect them from falling victims of abuse and insecurity which pervade the entire country.

The traditional head gave this advice in his interaction with journalists at his residence in Lagos where he also reiterates the need for the Lagos state ministry of education to build blocks of senior secondary school in his community.

According to High Chief Kalejaiye, Otumara community and its environs has only Ilogbo Junior Secondary school located within the community that their children have to go as far as schools in Surulere Local government to complete their secondary education.

He said, “As schools resume in Lagos state and other parts of the country after a long holiday, I want to urge parents and guardian to equip their children with useful security tips and advice that will keep them away from danger and abuse.

This is important especially as protest and other forms of vices gain prominence in almost every nooks and crannies of the state.”

While appealing to the Lagos state ministry of education for the upgrade of existing structures and the construction of new blocks of senior secondary schools in his community, High Chief Kalejaiye said, “considering the level of transformation Lagos state has witnessed in the short time Governor Sanwo-Olu has spent in Office, I have no doubt that our demand for the upgrade of existing classroom structures in Ilogbo High School and the construction of senior secondary school will be granted.

I am therefore appealing to the State commissioner for education to heed to our demand. We all know the importance of conducive environment to learning and since Otumara residents contribute to the growth of Lagos state, it is not out of place to bequeath to them modern classrooms for learning.”

High Chief Kalejaiye, however, wishes both teachers and students a fruitful and beneficial new term while praying to God for His protection over the teachers and children.
