To ease the burden of needs on residents of Otumara community in the Lagos Mainland Local Government of Lagos State, traditional ruler of the community, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has distributed 250 varied kilogram of bags of rice, bottled vegetable oil and live chicken to leaders of Community Development Associations and residents in the community.
The distribution of the Christmas largesse which was witnessed by Newsexplorersng.com correspondent saw residents and visitors joyously trooping in and out of the residence of the ruler with a renewed hope of a memorable Christmas celebration.
Speaking on the benevolence of the community head, Secretary, CDC, Lagos Mainland, Mrs. Prudence Abass, described High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye as a motivator and someone who offers a helping hand to the needy at all time.
She said, “He shows he cares about his people. He is not just ruling, he is also there for them in time of need. I am not surprise he is doing this, apart from the festive seasons, High Chief Kalejaiye calls and check on you. He celebrates with you when the occasion calls for it and give you a shoulder to lean on when the need arises.
He would call on your birthday to wish you well. He is such a humane personality. He motivates residents to bring about growth in the community. He is talk and do, he don’t just talk and he has a lot of things to show for it. The distribution you are witnessing here today is not just for the Christmas season alone, he has been doing this for a very long time.
He gives succour and financial assistance to the needy and the less privileged residents. When you pay a visit to him, he encourage you financially. He gives assistance to parents whose children are unable to attend schools. I can only pray to God to grant him sound health and wisdom to be able to take Otumara community and it’s environs to an enviable height.”
One of the beneficiaries, chairman, Otumara CDA, Mr. Abass Ishola commended the traditional ruler for always reaching out to the community despite the harsh economic situation of the country.
“What more can I say than to commend High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye for always being there for the community. We are all witness to the economic downturn in the country but regardless of this, he is able to reach out to residents during this Christmas season. I pray God meet him at every point of his needs. May God grant him the wisdom and knowledge required to pilot the community to an enviable height” Ishola prayed.
On his part, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye in his Christmas message expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for protecting his community, the Lagos Mainland Local Government, Lagos State and indeed, Nigeria against various social and security challenges.
He however urged Christians to devote the period of Christmas to giving glory to God for His favours and pray to God to ease all difficulties confronting the nation.
“As we merry during this season, I urge the people to pray fervently for God’s abundant grace to the country and lead our leaders to the right path.”
