Amazing facts about Zambian actor, Tunji Cole

Now 21-year-old, Olutunji Ebun-cole is an accomplished young Zambian actor. His mother is Zambian and his father Nigerian.

Famously called Tunji, this amazing Zambian actor in spite of his young age has a remarkable acting career as a kid actor,

an extra, a voice over, background artist and as face of popular brands such as Nickelodeon, Scaletrix, Clarks, Persil and ‘CHINS’ to mention but few.

In 2009, Tunji was 11 and in spite of his young age, he has carved a niche for himself in acting, playing lead roles in movies and television dramas.

He played a lead role in the Short Film “New Boy” where he acted the character ‘Joseph’.

The short film was nominated for an Oscar Award at the 2009 edition of the prestigious awards.

A year later, he was honoured as BEFFTA Young Achiever in the BEFFTA Special Awards Category.

Tunji beat seven other contenders who were between the ages of 13 and 28 to win the prestigious BEFFTA Young Achiever Award.

For the record, BEFFTA Awards is a special award organised by a Zambian, Pauline Long to honour entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the United Kingdom,

United States of America, Africa, Caribbean, Canada and to provide a networking platform for industry personalities.

His other achievements include acting as ‘Cola Kid’ in James Bond’s ‘Casino Royale’.

He has also worked with David Swimmer who was famously known as Ross in the American Sitcom “FRIENDS” in the film titled “Run Fat Boy Run”.

Also, internationally acclaimed kid actor, Tunji acted in the film ‘Sixty Six’ with Paul Weiland and as ‘Child in Street’ with David Corneberg in “Untitled”.

Every smart child is the pride of his parents and Tunji is no exception. Little wonder his Zambian mother Jayne Mwondela said on the unique achievements of his son

‘I am very proud of Tunji. He is such an amazing child. He loves what he does, and he does not let it get to his head.”

Tunji was honoured alongside other winners at BEFFTA Awards night held in 2010 at the Westminster Central Hall in London.

Some of the recipients of the prestigious awards include Rhumba maestro Kofi Olumide, Alicia Keys, Jay Z, Beyonce and Nigeria’s TuFace Idibia.

BEFFTA Awards is exclusively an East End Film and Media event.
