As Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State unveiled the newly built 110-bed Maternal and Childcare Centre and the School of Anesthesia at the Badagry General Hospital, the head of Otumara community, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has appealed for an upgrade of the only Primary Healthcare centre in Otumara community of Lagos Mainland Local Government of Lagos state which was built by the administration of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode .

Kalejaiye made the appeal during a chat with newsexplorersng.com on Sunday where he commended the efforts of Governor Sanwo-Olu towards the development of all sectors of the State’s economy especially the healthcare sector.

According to Kalejaiye, Lagos State has witnessed tremendous transformation under the administration of Sanwo-Olu, citing the completion of the newly constructed 110-bed Maternal and Child Centre located in Badagry as an indicator of Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to eradicating maternal and child mortality in the State.

With this addition to the governor’s limitless achievements in Lagos State, Kalejaiye said, “With the growing number of footprints of Governor Sanwo-Olu across Lagos State, I want to appeal to him to consider upgrading the existing primary healthcare centre in Otumara community which he facilitated  for the benefit of residents of the community.

As the leader of the community, I have done my bit to facilitate the health care centre which has been of tremendous relief to residents in the community. It has been attending to the health needs of residents but I feel more still needs to be done in terms of equipment and an improved service delivery.

Wr are grateful to former Governor Ambode fort the construction of the primary health centre. We are niw appealing to Governor Sanwo-olu to equip and upgrade the centre to meet up with the standard of modern primary health centre.

Our people deserve the best and we are counting on the governor to achieve this. Apart from this, residents in Otumara community require the intervention of the Lagos State government in the provision of infrastructure amenities in the community.

We want an upgrade of the existing primary schools and the only Junior Secondary School in Otumara. We don’t have any Secondary Senior School in the community as our children are forced to journey as far as Surulere to complete their secondary education.

Although the Lagos State Governor has approved the construction of blocks of Senior Secondary School for the community, we heard it on good authority that the Ministry of Education are the reason for the delay in the construction.

We were told that they are contemplating on siting the school in another place because of influence of some bad elements who do not want respite for the community.

I am appealing to Governor Sanwo-olu to kickstart as the process of constructing blocks of Senior Secondary School in the community as many parents are groaning under the burden of additional expenses on transport fares to Senior Secondary Schools outside Otumara.

We are trusting the governor to gift Otumara community sooner than later as we know that wellbeing of Lagosians is very dear to his heart.”
