Three Secondary School Students, Four Others Arrested For Cultism, Armed Robbery

Three underage Junior Secondary School Students including a tailoring apprentice and three others have been arrested for cultism and armed robbery by police in the State.

The four suspected cultists were arrested by the police when they came on reprisal attack on rival cult members at the Junior Secondary Schools in Akinyele and Alakuko area in Lagos.

The suspects are 18 year old Tosin Balogun, Sunday Dare 15 year, Olayinka jubril 14 year, and Sanni Ayomide Babatunde, also a 15 year old student.

Tosin Balogun and Jubril Olayinka are students of Odewale Community High School Ijoko Ogun State while Sanni Babatunde is a student of Tunik International School, Dalemo Alakuko and Dare Sunday is a tailoring apprentice at Dalemo Alakuko.

According to a statement signed by the spokesman of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police operatives had got winds of the planned reprisal attacks on their rivals in the school and raced to the scene immediately the suspects arrived to cause pandemonium and attack their targets.

He stated that items like cutlasses, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms were recovered from them.

Similarly, the operatives of D9 (Anti Robbery) Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba on Saturday, 17th April, 2021, arrested a gang of armed robbers and suspected cultists with Beretta pistol substance suspected to be indian hemp and charms.

They include:  Victor Alfred, Chubike Ikeh Donatus, and Isiaka Olamide, all 19 years of age, at Marble Guest House, No 33 Ajibike Street, Ogudu Ojota, Lagos.

One Beretta pistol, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms were recovered from them.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered proper investigation of the suspected cultists and possible arrest of other members of their gang, while the suspected armed robbers be properly investigated and profiled by the Anti Robbery Section of the State CID.

The police boss reiterated his commitment to eradicating cult related crises and other forms of criminality in Lagos State; and making the state very hot for the survival and operations of any cult or armed robbery group in the state.
