Arewa Community In Lagos Pays Thank You Visit To Apatira

The Arewa Community in Lagos State ably led by its Women Leader, Hajia Halima Zakaria paid a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, Hon (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira at the council secretariat on Tuesday.

The visit, according to Hajia Zakaria, was to express gratitude to the council boss for being non-discriminatory in the appointment of his cabinet members.

Hon. Apatira had earlier announced the appointment of a member of Arewa community in the state, Hajia Mariam Muhammed as a supervisor and member of the executive committee in Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area.

She said, “We are here today on a thank you visit to our amiable council boss, Hon. (Dr) Ahmed Apatira for his non-discriminatory posture and particularly for being humane and considerate to the plight of women as regards representation in his cabinet.

“We are here to assure you that the Arewa community is solidly behind you because if you are able to do all these things for us as a council chairman, hopefully you will do more if you get to a higher position.

“I have been in politics for over 20years and I want to categorically say that for the first time in the history of local government administration in Lagos State, a member of the Arewa community is being appointed as a member of the cabinet.

“This is, indeed, a rare privilege. And from the depth of heart, we say a very big thank you. We want to assure you that we wont take this kind gesture for granted.”

Responding at the reception, Apatira while appreciating the women for their visit emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering quality service to the good people of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area.

“We all have roles to play in our various capacity. There is a lot of work to be done and you must all gear up towards this task.

The non-discriminatory stance of our administration is glaring to everyone to see and this is premises on the belief that We all have our individual role to play in the development of our district. We have been working together as one and indivisible entity because the growth and development of our community is our priority.”

The council boss expressed the need for Arewa, Ndigbo and the South-South to continue vote en-masse for all APC candidates in every elections.

The state women leader were accompanied by Hajia Fatima Galadima(Oriade LCDA), Mrs Pat Toko(Ojo LGA), Hadiza Umar All (Ajeromi-Ifelodun), Hadiza Barma (Amuwo-Odofin), Bilikis Wada (Surulere) Hannath Umar (Lagos Island), Sabuwa Abass (Agege), Asabe Muhammed (Itire-Ikate), Lauratu Abubakar, Mamuna Hamza.
