Lagos House Committee Commends Itire-Ikate Council Boss, Promises Improved Healthcare Delivery To Lagosians
Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Hon. Naheem Adams, has promised an upgrade of primary healthcare centres across the state with an improved quality healthcare delivery to the people of the State.
The lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency 1 gave the assurance on Thursday during an oversight/inspection tour of 50 healthcare facilities across the 20 local government areas and 37 LCDAs in the state.
The inspection, according to Hon. Adams is aimed at strengthening the capacity of PHCs and identifying challenges hindering quality healthcare delivery with a view to providing solutions at the local level.
Speaking during the committee’s visit to Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. Adams disclosed that, “The committee on health under the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) is embarking on a tour of the 50 primary healthcare centres across the local government areas and LCDAs in the state to assess the condition of the facilities and their challenges and give feedback to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa with a view to strategizing on ways to improving on the quality of service delivered to the people at the grassroots.”
The lawmaker commended the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Dr Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira for his huge investment in the health sector in the council area and prioritising the health of the community.
The also commended members of staff of the health services department of the LCDA while also encouraging them to maintain international best practices.
The Committee however advised health personnel to intensify community advocacy and engagement while promising Lagos State Government supports in the area of manpower, equipment and supplies.
The Assembly entourage were taken on a tour of the primary healthcare centers at Airways, Anjorin, the Flagship center at Ejire and the Ongoing reconstruction of Baruwa PHC.
In his remark, the council boss who was represented by the vice Chairman, Hon. Yetunde Jimba reassured the committee of his administration’s commitment to improving the quality and standard of service delivery.
“It’s our policy to have functional primary health centres in our various communities to provide and enhance quality healthcare for our people in line with our administration’s core mandate while collaborating with the Lagos State Government and development partners.” He said.
Other members of the contingent are Hon. Femi Saheed, Hon. Makinde Rasheed, Leader of the legislative arm, Hon. Hammed Oladipupo Idris, Hon. Councillors, Cabinet members and management team.
