Houseboy Stabs His Employer To Death, Employer’s Mother Died Of Shock

A 22-year-old houseboy identified as Joseph Ogbu has been arrested for allegedly killing a 90-year-old woman and her daughter 48hrs after he was employed.

The suspect, according to the Lagos State Police Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Bala Elkana committed the crime at about 3:am Thursday, June 20 at Surulere area of Lagos state.

DSP Elkana said, on June 20, 2019 at about 3am, Surulere Police Station received a distress call from No. 4 Ogunlana Drive, Surulere that one Joseph Ogbu; 22, who was employed as a houseboy on June 18, 2019, murdered his employer, Oreoluwa John; 38 and her 89 years old mother, Adejoke John.”

According to the police, the suspect, Joseph Ogbu confessed to the crime in his statement that he stabbed his employer after an argument and that it was the shock of her death that made her aged mother to slump and died.

The police spokesperson stated further that after they had died, the houseboy stole some valuable property such as electronics, handsets and household items into the employer’s Toyota Camry Salon Car and attempted to escape to where he cannot be found.

But  he was apprehended by policemen on patrol at Ogunlana point.The vehicle and items stolen were recovered.

The crime scene was sealed off and corpses of the two victims were taken to Mainland Hospital Yaba for autopsy.”

Meanwhile, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba to take over the investigation and charge the suspect to court.
