61st Independence: Kalejaiye tasks political leaders on nation building, employment creation

High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, traditional ruler of Otumara community in Lagos State, has called for a renewed hope and faith in the country and its leadership, saying, nation of our dreams can only be attained in an atmosphere where peace reign supreme.

Kalejaiye made the call in his Independence Day speech made available to newsexplorersng.com on the 61st Independence anniversary celebration of the country on October 1.

He stated that Nigeria need unity to move forward and attain her rightful position among comity of nations.

While calling the country’s leadership to task on the delivery of dividend of democracy to the citizenry, He said: “I congratulate fellow Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s   Independent anniversary celebration.

There is no doubt this is not the best of time for many Nigerians but there are a lot of things we need to be proud of as a nation. But there is still a lot of work to be done.

As we celebrate this year’s Independence, I am urging all our leaders in the three arms of government of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary to do the needful and liberate Nigerians from the shackle of poverty, unemployment, insecurity and kidnapping, food inflation and scarcity.

Nigerian politicians are toying with the future of Nigerians. They enrich themselves at the expense of the needs and aspirations of other citizens.

Nigerians live in fear and uncertainty. Many Nigerians live in abject poverty in spite of the abundant resources nature bequeaths on the country.

Many people are poor in a rich country like Nigeria. Nigerian youths constituting the most active population, yet inactive to achieve their dreams and goals.

The government, with bad policies and mismanagement of the country’s resources, has successfully crippled the souls and minds of citizens of the country.

On this year’s Independence, I am appealing to the president, governors and other political leaders to liberate Nigerians from early death and give them true independence from poverty, homelessness and economic needs.

We want a better deal. We want employment for the teeming youth population. The government must create a platform that supports business growth. We want good transportation network and living wages for the employed population of the country.

We want an upgrade healthcare system and affordable housing. Importantly, the government should end banditry, kidnapping and terrorism as Nigerians live as slaves in their fatherland. One ethnic group cannot be slave to another. We are equal before God and the constitution.”
