Kalejaiye Congratulates Sanwo-Olu, Appeals For Construction Of Senior Secondary School
A traditional ruler in Otumara community in Lagos Mainland of Lagos state, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, has congratulated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat on their victory at the just concluded governorship election in the state.
Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 762, 134 votes to defeat candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who polled 312, 329 and Abdul-Azeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party who garnered 62, 449 votes.
Kalejaiye urged the Governor to fulfil his promises to the electorate especially the construction of Senior Secondary School for residents in Ebute-meta District.
According to the traditional ruler, residents in Ebute-meta has been clamouring for Senior Secondary School for many years.
He urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to grant the request of residents of Otumara community and write his name in gold.
He said, “For many years, residents both parents and children have been demanding for the construction of Senior Secondary School in the Ebute-meta District. We appeal to the governor to grant this wish to not only write his name in gold but to also build a solid foundation for children of the district.”
He also called for the integration of traditional institutions in the governance and scheme of things in the state.
Kalejaiye also urged the governor to focus on grassroots politicians, noting that they are the true facilitators of the victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and not the politicians that feast on the efforts of others to be relevant.
He appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu to prioritise the needs of these grassroots politicians and not leave their care in the hands of glutton politicians.
He said, “I congratulate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat on their victory recorded at the last governorship election in the state.
The poll was indeed a referendum on the good governance and transformations witnessed across all the sectors of the state economy.
While I express satisfaction about the conduct of the election, I also want to commend the people for conducting themselves in a peaceful manner.
I, as the ruler of Otumara and with the cooperation of HRM Oba Bashiru Abisoye Oloto of Otto and Lagos Mainland, Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose, the Opeluwa of Lagos, Ward executives and CDAs in the district, campaigned relentlessly and they bought into the candidates we presented before them and electoral success followed.
It is however misleading for some people to start speculating that a particular high ranking politician was responsible for our collective victory.
They said he organised a seminar at the community. This is misinformation. I am aware of a pep talk that was organised for the youth in Otumara.
The talk was organised by a prominent member of Mainland by the name, Azeez Adekoya popularly known as Anointing and an aspirant for the House of Representatives in Lagos Mainland, Hon. Akeem Animashaun.
From the inception of the programme, I was informed till it was held at the primary school in the community.
The fellow appeared at the event without being invited but it came to me as a surprise when he claimed to have organised the event he accidentally bumped into.
We must note that the success of any democracy depends on the ability of people from different backgrounds and status to come together and work towards a common goal.
Therefore, we must desist from attributing the success of any task to our individual self.”
Also, traditional rulers and white cap chiefs worked timelessly during the election. I am appealing to the governor to see to their affairs as well.
And above all, Lagosians need an improved standard of living which they are hoping will be given by the governor.
It is however expected of the governor not to relent in his developmental stride of positive transformations that placed Lagos on the highest pedestal among states in the country.”
