Popular Lagos pastor kidnapped by unknown gunmen

Presiding pastor of a Lagos based church, the Royal House of Faith, Lekki, Bassey James has been kidnapped.

Bassey who is also a politician and founder, Akpaboism School of Leadership was kidnapped about 9pm on Sunday November 25 on Airport Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom a few metres away from his Southern Atlantic Polytechnic, Akwa Ibom.

An eye witness said the gunmen, who drove a grey Lexus 300 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), shot sporadically into the air and thereafter launched an attack on their target and zoomed off in an awaiting car.

Bassey was abducted near the police station he built, equipped and donated to the police to provide security for his investments and the Ibiaku Uruan community.

He is reputed for is establishment of “Akpabiosm”,a leadership training school coined and established during the administration of Godswill Akpabio when he was governor of Akwa Ibom State.

One of his relations in Uyo, who pleaded anonymity, said that the kidnappers were yet to contact the family for ransom and expressed concern over his safety.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mac Don Odiko, said the command was working assiduously to track the hoodlums. He promised that James would soon be rescued from the den of the kidnappers.
