Fulfil Your Campaign Promises, Osun Monarch Tells Gov. Oyetola

Akin Olayemi

The Elegboro of Ijebujesa, Osun State Oba Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye has said Governor Gboyega Oyetola has a lot to catch up with having lost seven months out of his four year tenure at the Osun State election petition tribunal.

In its ruling on Friday, the Supreme Court affirmed Gboyega Oyetola as the governor of Osun State nullifying the majority judgment delivered by the tribunal which earlier declared the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ademola Adeleke as winner of the September 2018 governorship election.

Speaking on the impacts the litigation had on governance in the State in a chat with newsexplorersng.com at his palace in Ijebujesa, Osun State, Oba Agunsoye said it caused distraction and stagnancy to the development of the State.

In a continued response, he said, “We thank God, it’s over now. The governor will be able to concentrate, sleep well and hit the ground running for the fulfilment of his campaign promises to the good people of Osun state.”

The monarch while assuring Osun residents of impactful and good governance urged Governor Oyetola to name his cabinet and roll out his growth plans for the State.

He therefore appeals to residents to pray for the success of this administration, “Let’s also pray for the State of Osun to be buoyant so that our governor will have enough funds to execute developmental projects for us to feel the impact of good governance.”

Further commenting on the Supreme Court judgment, Oba Agunsoye said it was a well-deserved victory.

“The fact that Governor Oyetola had the highest number of votes and he was declared the winner, his emergence is a reflection of the people’s wish which was validated with the Supreme Court judgment. When you put God first in everything you do, you cannot but attain success. Oyetola’s campaign slogan “Ileri oluwa ni lati se” meaning “God’s promise shall come to pass” lend credence to his reliance in God. It was a marvellous catchphrase. He put God first in his aspiration and God has answered his prayers.”
