As the most populous African black nation, Nigeria celebrates 59 years of independence from the British colonists, community head of Otumara, Apapa road, Ojo-oniyun and its environ; High chief kehinde Kalejaiye has urged Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to step up moves to liberating Nigerians from the shackles of poverty and unemployment.

High chief Kalejaiye observed that Nigeria has all it takes to be ranked among the best economy in the world but according to him, years of maladministration, bad leadership and corruption by past administrations have thrown Nigerians into an ocean of poverty making it ranked as the world’s poorest country in the world.

The community head, also an hotelier made this known in his Independence Day congratulatory message to Nigerians in Lagos on Tuesday, October 1st.

He said, “I congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians on the occasion of our country’s independence anniversary. I wish every Nigerian a happy independence celebration.

However as we roll out drums to celebrate Nigeria’s freedom from British colonial rule, I am urging President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure Nigerians are truly free economically and socially with all the required infrastructure amenities in place to advance the status of an average Nigerian.

I am a proud Nigerian and it is not a curse that we are Nigerians.”
High Chief Kalejaiye noted that for the giant of Africa, Nigeria to be an independent nation in the real sense of the word, the country’s active populations must be gainfully employed with an average Nigerian living above the poverty line.

He added that it is not enough for a nation to be politically free while his economy is tied to the apron of the imperialists.

“The efforts of President Buhari towards nation building and liberating Nigerians are commendable but more need to be done especially in the area of job creation and economy stability. The Federal government social investments programmes are on course and in the right direction but how many youths can the scheme absorbed?

We need President Buhari and his cabinet to look inward and create employments for the youths by reviving local industries.

Again, I commend Mr President for closing the Nigeria-Benin border primarily to boost the production of home grown rice. Nigeria has the capacity to be self-sufficient, our leaders need to be more responsible and alive to the needs and yearnings of the citizenry” he advised.

High Chief Kalejaiye however commends the efforts and uniting spirit of elder statesmen and astute politicians whose political sagacity and sacrifices to the political entity called Nigeria.

“I applaud the courage and sacrifices of past leaders of the country whose doggedness and patriotism earned Nigeria her independence from Britain in 1960. In modern Nigeria, I cannot but recognise and commend the political wisdom, bravery and sacrifices of our father and national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the birth of modern of Lagos and by extension a new Nigeria.

I also commend the efforts of all leaders of our great party both at the national, State and local levels for living up to expectations and delivering on their electoral promises. Happy Independence Nigerians.”
