Son shattered mother’s head with hammer, machete

Officers from the Imo state police command has arrested a 47-year-old man, Sunday Agwim for allegedly killing his 62-year-old mother, Christiana Agwin.

The command spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu disclosed that the suspect allegedly hit his mother with a hammer and a machete shattering her head beyond recognition until she died.
He said, “We received an intelligence report from a security coordinator at Umuobom community, Jude Mbionwu that the suspect, Sunday Agwim, 47, killed his mother, Christiana Agwim, 62 by hitting her on her head with an hammer and a machete beyond recognition until she gave up the ghost.
“We immediately visited the crime scene and the suspect has been arrested and exhibits recovered. The remains of the victim had been recovered but because of the damage to the head, we couldn’t take it to the mortuary rather, coroners’ forms were completed and a doctor from the UTH Nnewi, Anambra State, conducted an autopsy on the corpse to enable the burial to take place.
“In his confessional statement, the suspect stated that he never knew what came upon him.”
Ikeokwu confirmed that the suspect would be charged to court.
