WASSCE to hold on August 3

The West Africa Examination Council has announced August 3 as new date for the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

According to Ghana’s Ministry of Examination the new date was arrived as examination date for Senior High Schools after six weeks of intensive studies.

Speaking to newsmen on the possibility of partial reopening of schools, Minister for Education, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh disclosed that examinations will be held through five weeks after the tuition period.

Therefore, he stated that final year Senior High School students are to report to their various schools on June 22, 2020 to prepare for their exit exams.

“They will be there for academic work and revision for six weeks, do their West Africa Examination Council, the Ghana exams that we understand will take five weeks,” he said.

Dr. Opoku-Prempeh stated that the WAEC Ghana office has been consulted to set unique questions for various countries since others in the sub-region are tackling the pandemic and its effects differently.

The Minister also directed that there should be no assemblies, religious activities or any mass gatherings when the schools re-open.
