…Tasks Judges on prompt justice delivery
High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his provision of 51 Vehicles and Eight Houses to Judges in the State.

Kalejaiye in a statement made available to Newsexplorersng.com said the gesture would enhance justice delivery and build a formidable judiciary in Lagos State.

While charging the Judges on the need to fast track justice dispensation, he lamented on the sufferings of innocent Nigerians who have been suffering as a result of delayed justice system.
He said,”I want to commend Governor Sanwo-Olu on his efforts towards building other arms of government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu continued support to the judiciary is an attestation to his determination to building a free and fair society where every individual will have equal access to justice regardless of social status.

There would be no good governance and development without a formidable judiciary. However, I would like to call the attention of the governor to the congestion of courts across the State which is adversely affecting prompt justice delivery.

We have seen cases being in court for as long as 25 years without any hope of it coming to an end soon. There are many instances of innocent citizens being remanded for offences they know nothing about but they languish in correctional facilities because their cases are being adjourned for a longer periods.

The judiciary is the bedrock of our society, and our judges need all the support they can get to effectively perform their duties. The government also need to come up with ways to overhaul the judiciary so that justice is dispensed fast and without fear or favour.

Lagosians can only enjoy the dividends of democracy in a just and fair society where the judiciary is active, independent, impartial and incorruptible. I am therefore appealing to Governor Sanwo-Olu to decongest our courtrooms and further motivate judges in the State for them to be able to discharge their responsibilities unhindered. Democracy is only meaningful in an egalitarian society where citizens rights are not infringed upon.”
