Akin Olayemi

A Crown Prince from Abioye Ruling House, Awo in Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State, Prince Abubakar Adeniyi has dragged
five (5) nominees for the replacement of dead Kingmakers to add up to the two(2) living kingmakers in the selection process of new Alawo of Awo before the authorities of Nigeria Police Force(NPF) and Department of State Security(DSS).

Prince Adeniyi disclosed that their appointment contravened section 24 subsection 6 of the Chiefs Law  which attracted six(6) months imprisonment without option of fine, adding that if they allowed illegal appointment to sustain, it might lead to break down of law and order and breach the peaceful co-existence among the good people of the ancient town.

He listed the names of illegal warrant Chiefs as Memunat Oladepo(neeAdesola), Hassan Adeyemi, Mohammadu Alimi, Muyideen Oladejo and Jimoh
Adisa, disclosing that the Police had begun the investigation on the aforementioned names to unravel their true identity if they hailed from the family of minor chiefs concern as stipulated in the Chiefs
Law.

In the Petition Letter dated 14th September,2020, through his(Abubakar) Lawyer, Barrister Lekan Alabi, stressed that instead of those illegally nominated to be Warrant Chiefs to reject the Greek gift, they accepted to perform the role in the forthcoming selection process of new Alawo illegally.

According to him, two wrong could never make a right and it was this reason that he took the bull by the horns to report to appropriate security authorities for proper investigation of the criminal aspect  of tissue, for possible prosecution of the aforementioned set of
people.

He had earlier reported the illegality of the Egbedore Local Government boss, Mr. Olayiwola Abiola Lamby in appointing the said Warrant Chiefs to the State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola where he warned Mr Lamby not to set the ancient town on fire, urging the Governor to call for meeting of the stakeholders and properi investigationof the development.

He stated that Mr. Lamby had mislead the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Femi Akande to approve the
illegally selected five (5) nominees as Warrant Chiefs which was picked by one of the contestants for the Alawo stool, Taiwo Adegboye,  an outgoing leader of the legislative arm of the Local Government area
of the State.

Abubakar who is of Akanfe Adeniyi’s extraction of Abioye Ruling House, maintained that no law gave Secretary or Chairman of the Council as
case might be, not to follow due process of law in appointing the Warrant Chiefs in the selection process of new monarch in the State.

He further stressed that the action of Mr. Lamby negates the sanctity of justice, equity, fair play and transparency, saying that it is
ungodly and satanic for Lamby to allow a player in a match to appoint a referee, adding that one of the kingmakers and Jagun of Awoland,
Chief Saka Adesola had publicly declared recently that the two living kingmakers were not aware of any purported appointment of Warrant
Chiefs and not to talk of electing new monarch.

Abubakar insisted that Lamby had contravened sections 14,15,22,23&24  ofChiefs Law Cap 25 in selecting the Warrant Chiefs and the long hand of the law should catch up with those who were supposed to reject the
illegitimate errand but failed to do so.

He therefore, urged the appropriate concern security agents to investigate the matter without fear or favour by seeing the matter as
crime ignore was a crime and this matter should be treated as such.
