Community Head Commends LASUBEB, Task Force Collaboration On School Security

Mojisola Lawal

Community ruler of Otumara community of Lagos State, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, has commended moves by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), to eradicate indiscriminate vandalization of school property and dislodge hoodlums around school premises in the state.

Kalejaiye while reacting to the partnership between LASUBEB and the Lagos State Task Force to adequately secure schools and curtail encroachment on school lands by residents, said the partnership is needed at this time when insecurity pervade every sphere of our national lives.

According to him, it is better and beneficial to nip the trend in the bud and be proactive before the insecurity that is currently ravaging some of the Southwest states filters into Lagos State.

He said,”In Lagos State, we have been enjoying adequate security of lives and property and this, overtime, is extended to schools across the state. But as the rate of insecurity is increasing across the country and particularly, in Southwest states, Lagos State needs to be extra vigilant and be alert to the protection of residents.

The Lagos State Police Command headed by Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has been doing a wonderful job in crime prevention. So also is the Lagos State Task Force on Environment and Special Offences chaired by CSP Shola Jejeloye, they are doing a lot to curb environmental nuisances.

I therefore cannot commend both agencies as the collaborative efforts will no doubt translate into a more secured learning environment for school children in the state.

The partnership between the two agencies is very essential to eradicating vandalization of school properties and also dislodge hoodlums who loiter around school territories and have turned most of the school premises into hideout and restrooms as we have experienced in our community.

The presence of hoodlums around school environment is not only a threat to the pupils and teachers, but also a red flag in the society as many of the students are easily lured into cultism and other vices. So, I greatly appreciate this partnership and hope for an improved security situation not only in schools but also across the state.”
