Tinubu Cancels Colloquium Over Abuja-Kaduna Terrorists’ Train Attack

Asiwaju Tinubu with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu announcing cancellation of this year’s colloquium

The National leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has cancelled the 13th edition of his annual colloquium organised to celebrate his 70th birthday.

The cancellation was prompted by Monday night terrorists’ attack on Abuja-Kaduna train which left seven persons dead and many severely injured.

Speaking on the cancellation, Tinubu said he decided to cancel the celebration mid-way to honour the victims of the train attack.

Guests already seated at the event before it’s cancellation include Governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Osun governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and many others.

The former Lagos Governor noted that it would be inhuman for him to laugh and dance when many young souls had been killed while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the attacks.

He said: “This is a joyous 70th birthday for me. But I have just been informed after going back and forth with prayers and other activities for my birthday about the tragic incidence. It is very sad that scores of passengers were killed on a train between Abuja and Kaduna State.

“That is a very serious incident about the security of lives and it calls for a very serious and sober reflection. For me, to be here celebrating and dancing does not show the concerns of a statesman.

“I charge all of you who are here and others to go home and pray for the country. This event should not be holding. We pray for the soul of the departed and the injured for a quick recovery”, Tinubu added.
