2023: Endorsement Of Sanwo-Olu Is Against Rotational Governance, Says MURIC

A Muslim rights advocacy group, the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has opposed the endorsement of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to seek reelection for a second term of four years in 2023.

The apex advisory organ in Lagos State, the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) had endorsed Govrnror Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term in office.

The group in a statement
on Monday signed by its Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, and titled, ‘LAGOS 2023: Don’t rob Peter to pay Paul – MURIC’ said Sanwo-Olu endorsement by All Progressives Congress leadership in the state negates the principle of rotational governance.

According to Akintola, the group hinged its objection on the fact that Christians have had their two terms and it is the turn of Muslims to produce a governor by 2023.
