Kalejaiye commends LASG on recruitment of 3,000 teachers, appeals for Senior Secondary structure

Akin Olayemi
Head of Otumara 11 community in Lagos Mainland Local Government of Lagos state, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his interventions in all sectors of Lagos economy particularly education.

According to Kalejaiye, the glittering achievements of Sanwo-Olu in the last one year in the State are obvious even to blind eyes.
While urging him to replicate same in his community, he commended the governor on his recruitment of 3,000 primary school teachers which he said would further add immense value to primary and secondary education in the state.

He said, “The last one year in Lagos state has been eventful in the life of the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu. It has been a case of promise made, promise fulfilled.

Lagos state has witnessed a huge transformation in the public transportation sector, agriculture, education, job creation for unemployed youth and in the health sector especially in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

But while we felicitate with him on his sterling achievements, we urge the governor to replicate same gesture in Lagos Mainland Local Govrrnmrnt community.
The Ebute Meta west of the district for many decades is backward in terms of infrastructure development and especially in the sphere of education.

We don’t have Senior Secondary School in Lagos Mainland. Throughout the period schools are in session, our children suffer every morning journeying from their homes to Surulere where they are posted to complete their secondary education.

We have gotten approval for the establishment of Senior Secondary School in the Lagos Mainland Local Government which was to be located in the Otumara community. But some few unscrupulous elements prefer to use the land on which the school is to be built for trading rather than for school.

If truly the Lagos State Government and its Ministry for Education, the Permanent Secratary of the Ministry have the interest of our children at hearts and that of the council in general they should move in and start implementing the approval of the school building.

During the administration of former Giver of the state, Alhaji Latest Jakande we land in question was acquired by the government and we had six schools on it until they were moved out of the land.

Why is it now being claimed by some I individuals? We want the Lagos State Government to ask anyone claiming ownership of the land to come forward with documents on the land.

Also Oshodi was an international market before it was converted by former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode into an international bus terminal in the overall interest of the people of the state.

The collective interest of the people of a state over ride tje interest of the few therefore we are begging the Lagos state government and Minsintry of Education to implement the approval of the building of Senior Secondary School in Lagos Mainland Local Government.

We want the government to take over the land to secure the future of our children because the land belongs to the state and not an individual.

We are appealing to the governor to build blocks of Senior Secondary School for us and give the Lagos Mainland Local Government additional teachers as existing Junior Secondary School and Primary School are under-staffed.”

While praying for more developmental strides in the state under Sanwo-Olu, Kalejaiye advised elected public officers to bequeath dividends of democracy to the masses.

He said, “I pray for more successes in Lagos state. I therefore advised other elected representatives to emulate Governor Sanwo-Olu and bestow on the masses dividends of democracy so as to advance the quality of lives of the citizenry.”
