Oyingbo Bridge: Kalejaiye commends Sanwo-Olu, demands rehabilitation of Apapa road

2 min read

The traditional ruler of Otumara community in Lagos Mainland Local Government of Lagos State, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, has called for the rehabilitation of roads in Apapa road for an uninterrupted flow of vehicular traffic and pedestrian movement within the axis.

While commending the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the commissioning of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line Oyingbo Overpass Bridge, Kalejaiye explained that the entire stretch of road starting from Costain bus stop to Abule-nla Junction to Oyingbo is ridden with potholes and gullies.

The bad state of the road, according to him, obstructs free flow of traffic.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, had on Sunday, commissioned 7.7 metre Oyingbo Overpass Bridge at the Junction of Murtala Mohammed Way and Apapa Road, Ebute-Meta for the safety of lives and easy flow of vehicular traffic along the Red Line corridor.

Kalejaiye who was a guest at the commissioning said with the Bridge, Governor Sanwo-Olu has provided a permanent solution to avoidable fatal accidents that occurred occasionally at the railway crossings.

He said, “I must commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for making Lagos a model for transformation. Under his watch, Lagos state has experienced a huge transformation in all spheres of tits economy.

Uncontrolled traffic congestion had almost cripple economic activities in Oyingbo but with the Bridge, we are sure to witness thriving economic activities because Oyingbo is known as the epicentre of commercial activities.

Once again, I congratulate Lagosians and the Governor for the Overpass Bridge. However, as we rejoice over the Bridge, I will like to call the attention of Governor Sanwo-Olu to the deplorable state of roads along the Apapa-Oyingbo road.

The entire stretch of the road is filled with potholes and gullies. It is an eyesore to residents and menace to road users. The potholes are the cause of traffic gridlock we experience daily on that road.

So I am appealing to Govenor Sanwo-Olu to consider fixing this road to ease movement and traffic flow. Rehabilitating the road will add colour to the huge investment Governor Sanwo-Olu has made in the area of transport infrastructure.”
